MOSCOW, March 31 (RAPSI) – Head of Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has opened a criminal case against Judge of the Chechen Republic Commercial Court Alu Bachayev over alleged failure of justice, RAPSI learnt in the Committee on Friday.

According to investigation, in May 2010 and August 2012, Bachayev made travesty of justice by satisfying claims by the Association Symbiosis and recovery of over 5 billion rubles (about $89 million) from Russia’s treasury in favor of the non-commercial organization.

Information on crimes allegedly committed by the judge has been received during investigation into a criminal case over large scale embezzlement of funds from the federal budget, according to the Investigative Committee.

Travesty of justice made by Bachayev caused grave consequences including violation of constitutionally mandated principles of judicial proceedings, erosion of judicial power’s credibility, embezzling over 360 million rubles ($6.4 million) from Russia’s budget and attempted embezzlement of more than 4.6 billion rubles ($81.6 million), the statement reads.
