MOSCOW, February 22 (RAPSI) – The Moscow District Military Court has sentenced six citizens of Tajikistan to prison terms varying from 12 to 18 years for attempted terror attack in the Moscow Region, RAPSI correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The defendants were found guilty of terrorism, abetting terrorism and unlawful manufacturing of explosives. Four of them admitted guilt in full while the other two did it only in part.

According to investigators, the defendants were tasked with a terror attack as they tried to join the Islamic State terrorist organization prohibited in Russia. They decided to blow up a public shuttle bus in the town of Lyubertsy in the Moscow Region and prepared a bucket with explosives and a timer for this purpose. Passengers of the shuttle bus noticed the suspicious item and the terror attack was prevented.
