MOSCOW, March 28 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court of Russia has denied review of two claims for a total amount of more than one trillion rubles ($17.5 billion) to Natalia Potanina, the former wife of billionaire Vladimir Potanin, the court’s press service has told RAPSI.
According to the court’s representative, Potanina attempted to appeal refusals of Moscow’s Presnensky District Court to collect 850 billion and 215 billion rubles in her favor.
In May 2017, the court dismissed a lawsuit lodged by Potanina seeking to collect 215 billion rubles (about $4 billion) from her ex-husband. She asked the court to divide the property acquired during their marriage by recovering financial compensation for shares of KM Invest company.
In July, the court dismissed another claim to recover 849.2 billion rubles (about $15 billion) from Potanin.
The lawsuits were rejected because the statute of limitation expired.
The businessman was granted a divorce from his wife in February 2014.
In July 2015, the Presnensky court issued a ruling in a case on dividing the assets of the former spouses. According to a source familiar with the lawsuit, the court ruled that Vladimir Potanin keep a 406.9 square meter luxury apartment on Skatertny Pereulok (central Moscow) and a church, St. Blessed Tamara in the village of Anosino, in the Moscow Region.
Natalya Potanina received 380 million rubles ($6.8 million) in compensation for her share in the apartment as well as three plots of land in the Moscow Region.
In the fall of 2015, the court dismissed Potanina’s claim for ownership of 50 percent of her ex-husband’s stake in Norilsk Nickel and half of Interros International, which holds their other assets. She has appealed the ruling, only for the Moscow District Court to uphold it on January 22, 2016.
