MOSCOW, June 6 (RAPSI) – Investigators will motion to detain the head of the Interior Ministry’s operative department for the Dagestan Republic, colonel Magomed Khizriyev suspected of corruption, according to the statement published on Twitter account of Russia’s Investigative Committee.

The motion will be lodged with court on June 7, the statement reads.

On Wednesday, five alleged accomplices of Khizriyev were arrested.

According to investigators, in 2017, Khizriyev transferred his accomplices $2 million as part of a bribe. The alleged accomplices said that money was designated for their help with his appointment for a higher position in one of the Interior Ministry’s regional departments. Overall, the value of the bribe reached $6 million.

It was noted that the suspect was apprehended with the assistance of the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) officers.
