MOSCOW, June 9 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has overturned a ruling convicting fur fashion designer Natalya Lakuzo for fraud after intervention of Russia’s ombudsman for protection of business’ rights Boris Titov, the official website of the ombudsman reads.

According to the press release published on the website, Titov asked the Moscow prosecutor’s office to review the sentence issued by the Presnensky District Court and offer an opinion on the fact that the motive of self-interest was not proved.

During the initial hearing of the case, the court classified non-return of money borrowed by the entrepreneur from her clients in 2012-2014 as a fraud. Also, in 2014, Lakuzo received money and materials for manufacturing of fur products but did not fulfill her obligations.

Lakuzo turned to the ombudsman explaining that she did not seek to embezzle the funds. She borrowed money from her clients because her credit organization Master Bank had its license revoked. In addition, the economy crisis, dollar conversion rate and plummeting demand for fur products made her bankrupt.
