MOSCOW, July 2 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has upheld a 2-year suspended sentence given to civil activist Mark Galperin for calls for extremism, his attorney Aleksey Liptser has told RAPSI.

The hearing has been held behind closed doors.

The Nagatinsky District Court of Moscow convicted Galperin of calls for extremism in March. The case is concerned with online videos criticizing authorities. According to investigators, the defendant pushed for extremist activity using the Internet.

Earlier, Galperin systematically violated public order and did not comply with the demands made by police. In June 2017, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow put the defendant in administrative detention for 15 days. He was found responsible for not obeying the police at the unlawful June 12 rally in Moscow.
