MOSCOW, July 18 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has extended until December 21 detention of the state-run company Atecks’ ex-chief Andrey Kaminov charged with embezzlement of over one billion rubles ($68 million) during construction and reconstruction of the presidential residence in Novo-Ogaryevo (Moscow region), RAPSI correspondent reports from the courtroom.

The court is also expected to review motions of the Investigative Committee seeking to extend detention terms for Kaminov’s former deputy Stanislav Kyuner and former head of Stroyfacade company Dmitry Torchinsky.

In August, the defendants in the case were presented with final charges.

According to investigators, Kaminov and his accomplices organized a criminal group and committed a large-scale embezzlement.

Investigators believe that the alleged criminals embezzled the state funds allocated for the execution of various construction projects of federal importance. Damage caused is estimated at around 225 million rubles (about $4 million) and was later raised up to over 1.3 billion rubles ($19.2 million).
