MOSCOW, October 16 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Babushkinsky District Court will hear a motion filed by investigators seeking to extend detention of ex-CEO of the S.A. Lavochkin Scientific Union Sergey Lemeshevsky charged with embezzling 330 million rubles ($5 million) on October 19, the court’s spokesperson Maria Borovikova has told RAPSI.

Investigators have demanded to extend the defendant’s detention until December 20.

Lemeshevsky was arrested and detained in late July. In early August, the Moscow City Court overturned the ruling and forwarded the matter to a lower court for reconsideration. On August 13, the court reordered his detention.

Lemeshevsky, Chairman of Tretyakov & Partners law firm Igor Tretyakov and chief of the Union’s legal department Yekaterina Averyanova are charged with large-scale embezzlement.

According to investigators, three defendants of the case have stolen assets of Roscosmos by signing fraudulent contracts with the law firm. Overall, payments to the firm reached 330 million rubles in two years.
