SAINT-PETERSBURG, January 22 - RAPSI, Mikhail Telekhov. The verdict against Diana Zhelyaskova, co-owner of the Redmond group of companies, who was handed one year in prison for tax evasion entered into force, the United Press Service of the Courts of St. Petersburg told RAPSI.

The verdict of the Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg was appealed both by Zhelyaskova and prosecutors.

Zhelyaskova asked the appellate board of the St. Petersburg City Court to reduce the sentence or impose a suspended sentence.

Prosecutors, in their turn, asked the judge for a new trial, but later withdrew the request.

Tax evasion scheme was organized by Zhelyaskova, Andrey Sinyavin and Maxim Ageenko, co-founders of the Redmond group of companies, according to materials of the case.

Until 2017, Zhelyaskova held the position of General Director art Technopoisk LLC, the distributor of Redmond brand. She included in the tax declarations false information about the company's financial and economic relations with a number of legal entities that had signs of fly-by-night firms. Zhelyaskova entered into sham supply contracts with these entities. Technopoisk evaded payment of value added tax in the amount of 928 million rubles and income tax in the amount of 1.03 billion rubles, while Zhelyaskova personally did not pay taxes on the total the amount of 1.9 billion rubles, prosecutors claimed.

According to the press service, Zhelyaskova compensates for the damage, but according to the tax authorities, the amounts she transfers are insignificant.
