MOSCOW, July 12 (RAPSI) – The Basmanny District Court of Moscow on Friday detained deputy board chairman of the Russian Pension Fund Alexey Ivanov suspected of receiving a bribe until September 9, RAPSI reports from the courtroom.
The court granted a motion lodged by investigators despite objections of a prosecutor and the suspect’s defense, who sought house arrest for Ivanov.
The official, who was arrested on July 10, pleaded guilty to taking a bribe amounting to 4.4 million rubles.
If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
On Friday, the court is also set to consider the investigators’ motion to detain director of one of the departments of Technoserv Management Alexey Kopeikin suspected of mediation in bribery.
Investigators believe that from 2017 to 2019 Ivanov received the money through Kopeikin’s mediation.
On Thursday, the Technoserv system integrator’s offices were raided. The company is an IT-contractor of the Russian Pension Fund and other major state ordering customers.
