MOSCOW, August 1 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has upheld a 30-day detention of opposition politician Dmitry Gudkov, who called for participation in an unauthorized rally in support of candidates refused registration for elections to the Moscow State Duma, a RAPSI correspondent reports from the courtroom on Thursday.

The court upheld a decision of Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court of 30 July, which found Gudkov, a former nominee for the membership of the Moscow City Duma, guilty of repeated violation of organization or running of a public event.

The case was initiated after an unauthorized rally brought together about 1,000 Moscow residents on 14 July.
