MOSCOW, October 18 (RAPSI) – A court in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Region will consider a criminal case against a former chief physician of a local hospital, who stands charged with embezzling over 23 million rubles ($360,000) from the medical organization, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reports Friday.

According to investigators, the defendant has embezzled over 13 million rubles by payments on fictious contracts with sham firms. He ordered accountants to pay bills for services, which have not provided.

Moreover, he has allegedly stolen more than 10 million rubles by settling bills issued by self-entrepreneurs, who have not actually provided services to the medical institution. Later, all funds were transferred to the account of the accused, the statement reads.

Also, from October 2013 to May 2018, he used the hospital’s gasoline and diesel fuel for his own purposes, investigators claim.
