MOSCOW, January 24 (RAPSI) – A former judge of the Commercial Court of Altai Krai has been found guilty of receiving 700,000 rubles for mediation in bribery and sentenced to 7 years in prison, the press service of Russia’s Investigative Committee reports.

Additionally, the defendant has been fined 30 million rubles.

According to case papers, in 2017 then judge was in charge of a tax refund case. In May 2017, a defendant’s lawyer proposed the judge to act as a mediator in the bribery for the monetary reward.

During the investigation, mediators and a receiver of the bribe pleaded guilty.

The lawyer received a 4-year suspended sentence and a 75-million-ruble fine in August 2019.
