COVID-19 carrier faces trial on allegations of escape from Moscow Region hospital
MOSCOW, May 29 (RAPSI) – A court in Zhukovsky, a town in the Moscow Region, will consider a criminal case over escape of coronavirus infected man from a hospital, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office has reported.
According to investigators, in April, the defendant was taken to the Zhukovsky town clinical hospital because of COVID-19. The man was banned from leaving the medical organization until he fully recovered. However, he voluntary left the hospital on April 13, the statement reads.
The law enforcement detected his whereabouts and returned him to the hospital the same day.
The man is charged with violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules posing mass infection threat. If convicted he could be sentenced to prison for up to 2 years.
