MOSCOW, July 28 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court on Tuesday upheld a 9-year high-security prison sentence given to the Moscow Region resident Maxim Gareyev for killing female blogger Yekaterina Semochkina, RAPSI learnt from the court’s press service.

Earlier, Moscow’s Nikulinsky District Court convicted and sentenced Gareyev finding him guilty of murder. According to the sentence, he is to undergo compulsory mental treatment in a colony. Moreover, the court granted a 2.5 million-ruble moral damage claim filed by the victim’s relatives.

The court found that in July 2019 the defendant killed the woman with extreme atrocity in a rental apartment and hid her body in a bag. The blogger’s body was found by the flat owner. Gareyev pleaded guilty.
