MOSCOW, November 13 (RAPSI) – The number of cases won by foreign investors in Russian courts reached 88% in nine months of 2020, according to the Supreme Court’s Chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev.

Lebedev told participants of the Chinese Forum on International Cooperation about protection of foreign investors’ rights in the Russian Federation. In total, there were 5,000 cases involving foreign investors during the said period, 4,400 disputes (88%) the investors won, the Supreme Court’s press service told RAPSI on Friday. 

The Chairman of the Russian Supreme Court in his speech also pointed the ongoing work on the humanization of criminal legislation and regulatory enforcement. According to Lebedev, from January to September Russian courts granted 52% of motions for replacement of unserved term with a lesser sentence, 50% petitions for release because of convicts’ illnesses and 59% pleas for parole.

He also expressed hope for further meaningful and efficient cooperation between Russia’s and China’s Supreme Courts.
