MOSCOW, November 18 (RAPSI) – Ten witnesses have given testimony in the arbiter assault case against ex-player of the Russian national football team Roman Shirokov, the victim’s lawyer Alexander Ostrovsky has told RAPSI.

A magistrate court has scheduled the case for November 25. It will be considered without examination of evidence as the defendant pleaded guilty. However, the injured party objected this decision.

Moreover, according to Ostrovsky, the defendant will face a civil claim exceeding 1 million rubles.

Shirokov stands charged with intended infliction of harm to health of arbiter Nikita Danchenko.

According to investigators, on August 10, Shirokov attacked Danchenko during an amateur football match; a video record of the incident was disseminated via social media.
