MOSCOW, February 12 (RAPSI) – Ex-Minister for Information Policy and Mass Communications of Russia’s Republic of Dagestan Nariman Gadzhiyev charged with embezzling over 2 million rubles has been extradited from Slovenia, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

According to investigators, the former official used his job position and conspired with a head of the firm Spectrum to steal the funds allocated in 2020 to the Ministry then headed by Gadzhiyev for realization of the program on the development of information cooperation with federal and regional mass media.

Later, the defendant escaped and was put on the international wanted list. In 2019, he was found in Slovenia and Russian authorities sent an extradition request there.
