MOSCOW, August 25 - RAPSI. The Moscow prosecutors office uncovered illegal construction in the Setun River Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, the Prosecutor Generals Office reported on its website.

According to the prosecutors office, the illegal construction was taking place at the "Setunsky Stan" Moscow Youth Center and the "Master" stunt school for children, both of which are located in the wildlife sanctuary.

The construction, involving heavy-duty equipment, was being conducted on a 925 square meter land plot between April and May 2011, the prosecutors office reported.

The environmental damage caused by the construction to the wildlife sanctuary, including the destruction of vegetation and dumping of construction waste, is estimated at 18 million rubles ($643,000).

The prosecutors office opened a criminal case for the misuse of a conservation area, which is punishable by up to two years of corrective labor.
The cases investigation is being overseen by the Moscow prosecutor.
