MOSCOW, June 7 (RAPSI) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill introducing drug testing for school students, the official web portal for legal information reported.

The final phrasing of the law was posted on the portal on Tuesday.

The testing will be held in two stages. During the first, socio-psychological stage, students will complete a special questionnaire. The second stage consists of medical tests and examinations to find any traces of narcotic substances in students’ systems.

The tests will be offered on a voluntary basis. A recent survey conducted among people aged from 11 to 24 showed that around 25% have tried drugs. The average age for the first time to try drugs is 15-16.

The law will enter into effect in six months after its signing.
