DUBAI, May 30 (RAPSI) – The Saudi Labor Ministry has banned women from working between 11 PM and 9 AM, Arabian media reported quoting an official statement.
The decision was made for safety reasons: to ensure that women don’t leave their homes after streets become empty.

At the same time, the ministry encourages employers to hire women, especially for jobs that mostly serve women, such as women’s shops, beauty parlors and sports clubs.

A recent public opinion survey in Saudi Arabia, which canvassed about 3,000 respondents from various regions of the country, suggested that the majority of the conservative kingdom’s residents supported appointing women to high ministry posts, diplomatic missions and private companies.

The Saudis are actually prepared to have a woman serving as a cabinet minister, according to the survey.

Until recently, the highest post a Saudi woman was ever appointed to was deputy education minister. Other than that, 30 Saudi women have won seats on the Consultative Assembly.
