MOSCOW, October 9 (RAPSI) - This Thursday, the State Duma received a draft law that prohibits people convicted for justification of Nazism from teaching, TASS reports. The bill was proposed by Liberal Democratic Party member Alexander Starovoitov.

As it is stated in an explanatory note to the bill that was uploaded to the State Duma’s electronic database, the initiative has a goal to prevent “individuals involved in activity that justifies Nazism, if the activity was legally proved, from educating other people, including minors.”

Additionally, “the draft law will not allow the above stated individuals to be employed in organizations involved in the education, upbringing and development of minors, as well as in their leisure and healthcare, medical care, social care and social services, sports, culture and arts facilities.”

Earlier, the State Duma passed a law making the justification of Nazism a crime. The crime is punishable by either a fine of 300,000 rubles ($7,500) or a prison term of up to three years. Justification of Nazism through one’s professional position or the media is punishable by a fine of 100,000 to 500,000 rubles ($2,500 to $12,500) or up to five years in prison and deprivation of the right to be involved in certain activities for up to three years.
