MOSCOW, December 2 (RAPSI) – Dmitry Gorovtsov (A Just Russia), deputy head of the State Duma Committee for Security and Anti-Corruption, is drafting a resolution to encourage Russian lawmakers to abandon iPhones and iPads, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.

Gorovtsov said they would encourage MPs to abandon iPads and iPhones and other smartphone brands for security considerations. He recalled that some members of the lower house had access to confidential and critically important information.

A draft resolution to this effect will be submitted to the house in the next few days, Gorovtsov said.

The Defense Ministry has refuted earlier media reports that conscripts have been prohibited from using Apple products during their service.
