MOSCOW, February 20 (RAPSI) – A Just Russia party lawmaker Oleg Nilov proposed drafting a bill to allow arms deliveries to Caribbean countries in response to the US which is considering whether to provide weapons to Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.
The US House of Representatives introduced new legislation in early February to authorize military and lethal aid worth $1 billion to Ukraine through 2017.
“We should start considering a plan for Russia’s involvement in the settlement of the [Ukrainian] crisis,” Nilov said in the State Duma. “I believe that we should prepare a bill to approve the supply of weapons to the Caribbean countries.”
“This response action would prevent the delivery of weapons to Ukraine,” the MP said.
He also proposed establishing a special public committee to discuss the economic restoration of Donetsk and Luhansk.
“I propose selecting skilled professionals who had to flee Ukraine for a permanent public committee. We would cooperate with it to prepare proposals on the economic restoration of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics. We already have proposals on a number of priority measures,” Nilov said.
