MOSCOW, March 18 (RAPSI) – Russian MP Mikhail Degtyarev (LDPR) has drafted a bill to compile a list of insulting expressions for judges that hear defamation cases, the lawmaker told journalists on Wednesday.

Degtyarev has already sent the bill for approval to the government and the Supreme Court.

The bill is planned to amend the law on the Supreme Court.

“Unfortunately, the Code of Administrative Procedure has no indication for judging if defamatory words are used in libel cases heard under the related articles of the criminal and civil codes,” the MP said. “We propose that the Supreme Court analyze the cases heard in the past 10 to 15 years to summarize the insulting language used in them and to publish a list of words for judges, to be updated every three years.”

Degtyarev believes that the adoption of this bill would accelerate these hearings and help judges avoid errors.
