MOSCOW, April 10 (RAPSI) -  A bill which requires Russian state-owned entities to buy domestic computer software has been submitted to the lower house of parliament, the State Duma, according to its website.

Leonid Levin, chairman of the State Duma's Information Policy Committee, said that the bill might be adopted and signed by January 1, 2016.

State-owned entities will have to give priority to domestic software. Otherwise they would have to provide a detailed explanation, according to the bill.

The bill defines Russian software as the software owned by Russia, Russian citizens, the state or companies in which Russia or Russian citizens have over a 50% share. At the same time, the payments by the software owners to foreign companies must account for less than 30% of the sales revenue.
