MOSCOW, December 4 (RAPSI) – The Dagestan lawmakers have submitted a bill to the State Duma on stripping people involved in terrorism of Russian citizenship, RIA Novosti reported Friday.
The amendments would be made to the law On Russian citizenship.
The bill proposes in particular to strip persons who “left Russia for taking part in terrorist activities” of citizenship.
Moreover, those who act or acted against Russian peace-keeping or military forces and obstructed them in the discharge of their duties during international, interterritorial or other armed conflicts, will also forfeit their citizenship.
One more cause for citizenship revocation is committing terrorist acts against Russian nationals, embassies, missions and their employees abroad.
According to lawmakers, the bill is aimed at enhancing the national security.
