MOSCOW, April 26 (RAPSI) - Lawmakers representing A Just Russia party, Ildar Samiyev and Oleg Pakholkov, have submitted to the State Duma a bill introducing progressive tax on distribution of foreign movies in Russia, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.
The amendments are proposed to the Tax Code.
Under the bill, movies of foreign distributors must be taxed depending on number of cinema halls where a film would be exhibited. The bill introduces profit tax rate of 20 percent for movies distributed in 80-100 percent of Russia’s cinema halls; 15 percent tax rate for films exhibited in 60-80 percent of movie halls; 10 percent tax rate for movies presented in 40-60 percent of cinemas; 5 percent tax rate for films exhibited in 20-40 percent of movie halls. Tax rate of 0 percent would be imposed for the rest.
