MOSCOW, November 7 (RAPSI) – Russia’s consumer rights agency, Rospotrebnadzor, removed over 50 tons of sub-standard meat products from realization in 2016, the regulator announced on Monday.

Within nine months, about 16,000 inspections were conducted for companies and businessmen involved in manufacture and distribution of meat products.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, the rate of meat products failing to meet sanitary, chemical and microbiological requirements has dropped over recent years.

Over the specified period, 2.5 percent of meat products failed to meet the regulatory requirements compared with up to 3 percent in previous years, the statement reads.
