MOSCOW, May 4 (RAPSI) – The Justice Ministry has started working out a bill aimed to improve the quality of free legal assistance in Russia.

The relevant notification has been published on the website of draft laws and regulations for public discussion.

Amendments are proposed to the law “On Free Legal Assistance in the Russian Federation.” The finish date for the discussion is May 17,2017.

Under the bill, federal subjects of Russia would be able to fix cases of pro bono legal assistance in administrative legal proceedings. A scope of persons entitled to participate in the state system of free legal assistance would be restricted to attorneys and notaries.

Moreover, the draft law would set requirements for submission of information to the Justice Ministry for monitoring of activities on provision of free legal assistance to citizens and people’s education in the law.

Realization of federal and regional programs of education in the law would be also provided by the bill.
