MOSCOW, June 8 (RAPSI) – A bill prohibiting use of technologies allowing a person to bypass the blocking of websites in Russia has reached the State Duma, the database of the lower house of parliament reads on Thursday.

The prohibited technologies include telecommunication networks, operating systems and computer programs granting access to websites blocked in Russia. According to the authors of the bill, the proposed changes are to increase the efficiency of measures against websites with legally restricted access.

The bill reads that owners of such technologies are obliged to fix violations on requests of the Russian authorities. If an owner refuses to do so, internet providers are to block access to a website enabling access to the blocked sites.
