MOSCOW, June 26 (RAPSI) – A number of Russian MPs have drafted a bill on toughened criminal liability for corruption crimes, deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Counteracting Corruption Anatoly Vyborny wrote on his Vkontakte social network account.

The bill introduces four key changes:

• Prison sentence for giving and taking a bribe gets increased to up to four years;

• Bribery of Russian and foreign arbitrators responsible for resolving civil disputes between legal entities and individuals becomes a criminal offense;

• Abuse of authority by arbitrators gets criminalized. Arbitrators are to hold the same responsibility before the law as notaries and auditors;

• Benefits of an intangible quality of corruption nature get criminalized despite the difficulties with measurement of economic benefit. These benefits include using profitable connections and rendering of certain kind of services, for example, help with employment or admission to a prestigious educational institution.
