MOSCOW, November 24 (RAPSI) – The State Duma passed in the third and final reading on Friday two government bills on the procedure of recognizing and enforcing judgments of foreign courts concerning the confiscation of proceeds of crime.

The first bill establishes the order of examining requests to recognize and enforce sentences and decisions delivered by foreign courts. Moreover, the bill fixes grounds for dismissal of these requests. In particular, the inquiries are to be rejected if the judgment execution may cause damage to the Russian sovereignty or security, and if the action is not a crime in accordance with the Russian legislation.

The second draft law prescribes a procedure for disposal of property forfeited upon a foreign court’s ruling.

Amendments are proposed to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Federal Law “On Enforcement Proceedings”.
