MOSCOW, January 22 (RAPSI) – A bill granting Russian media watchdog, Roskomnadzor, a right to block websites, presenting information dangerous to children and teenagers or inducing them to commit crimes, without a court order, has been forwarded to various Russian state agencies for preliminary adjustment, the press-service of MP Irina Yarovaya stated.

According to the bill, websites with unlawful content as well as mirror websites are to be removed within one day. Currently, the law reads that the content in question should be removed within three days. Also, Yarovaya suggests that Roskomnadzor should immediately notify law enforcement authorities about said content in order to promptly identify persons responsible.

The MP noted that recent tragic incidents in schools located in Russia’s Perm, Chelyabinsk and Buryatia regions call for new measures. The bill is to be examined by the Investigative Committee, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Interior Ministry, the Communications Ministry, Roskomnadzor, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Education.

In January, several incidents involving armed attacks in Russian schools caught attention of the public. One of the attacks occurred on January 15 in the Perm Region. Two teenagers were charged with attempted murder of more than two people after a stabbing rampage. On the same day, one of the pupils stabbed another one with a knife in the Chelyabinsk Region. Days later, on January 19, a teenager attacked pupils of a school in the Buryatia Region and attempted to burn the building.
