MOSCOW, January 24 (RAPSI) – Russian government has submitted a bill granting court bailiffs a power to conduct investigation into activities of debt collector agencies to the State Duma, the government’s statement reads on Wednesday.

The bill was drafted by the Ministry of Justice. According to the document, an administrative investigation procedure by the state officials may be extended to a wider number of violations. Currently, debt collectors may be subjected to administrative liability, but legislation does not provide an option to commence administrative investigation.

Authors of the bill propose to establish such an option in order to protect rights and legal interests of persons during the debt collection before an administrative case reaches a court.
