Bill granting relatives right to defend suspects in courts reaches State Duma
MOSCOW, April 5 (RAPSI) – The State Duma will review a bill granting a right to defend interests of relatives in courts, the database of the lower house of parliament reads.
According to the bill, a prosecutor may allow a person to defend interests of a close relative alongside a lawyer. Suspects also get a right to request a specific person to defend their interests as well.
Currently, these rights are reserved for defendants but not suspects, authors of the bill note.
