MOSCOW, July 13 (RAPSI) – The Investigative Committee of Russia in cooperation with the National Medical Chamber have drafted a bill concerning crimes related to medical malpractice, the Committee’s press service reports Friday.

Currently, iatrogenic crimes are classified under four articles of the Criminal Code, namely negligent homicide, negligent infliction of grievous bodily harm, producing, storage, transportation or sale of goods and services which do not meet safety requirements and negligence. However, these articles do not include aspects of professional medical activities.

The bill would amend the Criminal Code by introducing articles on inappropriate delivery of healthcare and services and suppression of healthcare delivery violations.

The bill is aimed at minimizing mistakes of law administration and protection of rights of patients and medical staff, according to the Investigative Committee.
