MOSCOW, November 23 (RAPSI) – A bill on punishment for parliament members for failure to take measures to prevent and clear conflicts of interest submitted to the State Duma. The document’s version has been published on the database of the lower house.

Under the bill, senators and lawmakers would be cautioned or discharged from office for failure to notify of vested interest leading to the conflict of objectives. However, the initiative does not envisage termination of their powers.

Amendments are proposed to the law on the status of members of the Federation Council and the State Duma.

Currently, parliament members do not bear responsibility for such violations of anti-corruption legislation.
