MOSCOW, August 24 - RAPSI. The investigation of Sergei Magnitskys death in a pre-trial detention center has been extended until November 24, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told RIA Novosti.

Sergei Magnitsky, a legal consultant for the Hermitage Capital Management fund, was charged with large-scale corporate tax evasion. He died in a Moscow pre-trial detention center on November 16, 2009. His death sparked a public outcry, and resulted in amendments to criminal procedure and a large reshuffling of officials in the penal system.

Investigators discovered that Magnitsky died due to untimely medical assistance. The Investigative Committee earlier charged two doctors with negligence and negligent homicide. They face up to five and three years in prison, respectively.
