MOSCOW, September 23 - RAPSI. Russian judicial system is no worse than the Anglo-American judicial system, but it needs to be improved, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

This is a priority task of the authorities, he added.

"We need to improve the judicial system," Putin said at a United Russia meeting. "This is clearly one of our priority tasks to ensure that our system is genuinely just, so it can protect the interests of each citizen regardless of where he lives, his ethnicity, religion, or financial or official status. The system must be unbiased and everyone must be equal before the law."

According to the prime minister, Russia's so-called continental judicial system is no worse than the Anglo-American system. It is probably even superior in some respects, he stressed.
