MOSCOW, October 11 - RAPSI. Investigators opened a criminal case over the death of a Moscow school principal, charged with attempted bribery, in a Moscow pre-trial detention center, Investigative Committee spokesman Valdimir Markin told RIA Novosti.

Andrei Kudoyarov died from extensive heart attack on October 8. Police detained him after Kudoyarov allegedly claimed 240,000 rubles ($7,500) from a student's parents. Kudoyarov was charged with attempted bribery. He faced up to 12 years in prison.

Investigators opened a criminal case for "involuntary manslaughter due to misconduct of duties," a crime punishable by up to 3 years in prison.

Investigators will now have to discover if the officials or medical staff of the pre-trial detention center is responsible for Kudoyarov's death.
