MOSCOW, July 17 - RAPSI. Collection agencies frequently threaten borrowers when recovering outstanding debts, the Prosecutor General's Office reported after analyzing the work of such organizations in Russia.

Prosecutors often find that collection agencies threaten to hurt or kill individuals, scare them, break into their homes, or distribute defamatory information about them, according to the office.

The Prosecutor General's Office plans to increase its supervision over the observance of the population's rights during its interaction with collectors.

The corresponding orders have already been submitted to the heads of these agencies.
