PYATIGORSK, November 21 – RAPSI. The customs service has stopped several attempts to bring extremist literature into the country by pilgrims returning from the Hajj to Saudi Arabia, the service has reported.

“The book, 'Fortress of the Muslim,' was discovered in the luggage of passengers who arrived from Akaba. It has been included in the federal list of extremist materials,” the service said.

One pilgrim had three copies of the book and another had five. Two pilgrims who arrived on other flights were also carrying the book, according to the service.

“Two copies of another book, 'Praying to Allah. Treatment with Invocations from the Quran and the Sunnah,' which is also on the list, were also found,” the service said.

The Federal Security Service seized another four books that are not on the list, but are allegedly extremist. They have been submitted for examination.

The customs service has reported that over 20,000 Russians – with more than 7,000 hailing from the North Caucasus – took part in the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia this year.
