MOSCOW, May 13 (RAPSI) - Federal investigators claim that the shooting during New Orleans Mother's Day parade was not an act of terrorism, AP reports on Monday quoting an FBI statement.

"It's strictly an act of street violence in New Orleans," said Mary Beth Romig, a spokeswoman for the FBI in New Orleans, adding that the incident would not go unanswered.

On May 12, unidentified gunmen opened fire at the Mother's Day parade in New Orleans, Louisiana, attended by around 300 people. The police are searching for three suspects. According to the local police chief, the attackers used two types of arms. Their motivation remains unknown.

Ten men, seven women, a girl and a boy both aged 10 were hit, according to reports.

Remi Braden, director of public affairs for the New Orleans Police Department, told RIA Novosti that most of the wounds were not life threatening.  A $2,500 cash reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible.
