MOSCOW, June 27 (RAPSI, Maria Petrova) - Most law school graduates have poor knowledge of the Constitution, Russia's highest legal act, Mikhail Krotov, Presidential Envoy to the Constitutional Court, said during a national conference of constitutional law professors.

The conference, Important Issues of Teaching Constitutional Law, being held at Moscow's Kutafin State Law University, was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Russian Constitution.

Krotov said that poor knowledge of the constitution is a critical problem among law school graduates. "Their knowledge leaves much to be desired, and this shows in their legal practice," he added.

He believes the methodology of teaching constitutional law needs to be reviewed, and that the quality of education should be better controlled. "Constitutional law is something every lawyer should be familiar with. It should be tested in final exams," he said.
