KRASNODAR, December 5 (RAPSI) - A criminal case has been opened following a fight in central Krasnodar, southern Russia, that involved fans of FC St. Gallen (Switzerland), the Prosecutor's Office of the Central District of Krasnodar reported.

According to a RIA Novosti source in Krasnodar law enforcement, the fight broke out early on the morning of November 29 on the main street of Krasnodar. The regional internal affairs department reported that the police stopped a fight on Krasnaya Street that involved some 15 people. Seven offenders were arrested, nearly all of them in a state of alcoholic intoxication. A report was filed on one of them.

The day before the incident, FC Kuban defeated FC St. Gallen 4-0 in a domestic Group A match in the UEFA Europa League.

The prosecutor's office reports that the night after the match, unidentified individuals “used a minor excuse to cause physical harm to three St. Gallen fans.”

The case was opened on physical assault charges. The crime is punishable by up to two years in prison. The defendants have not been identified.
