MOSCOW, February 17 (RAPSI) – French investigators have ruled out criminal wrongdoing in the ski accident suffered by seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, the AP reported Monday citing state prosecutors.

The 45-year-old German race car driver was placed in an induced coma after a bad skiing accident in December, according to a press release issued by Formula 1.
According to a Formula 1 release issued on January 8, Schumacher was wearing a helmet-mounted video camera when the accident occurred – which played a crucial role in the investigation into the accident.

Formula 1 quoted French prosecutor Patrick Quincy at the time as having stated: “The film is perfectly clear and gives us a lot of information… It confirms all the information that we already had. We used this film to do a reconstruction of the accident.”

By that point, investigators appeared to have ruled out the speed at which Schumacher had been traveling, the resort’s signage, and the German skis as having been key contributors to the accident.

On Monday, the AP cited Quincy as having stated that no violation by anyone had turned up during the course of the probe, which has wrapped.

Last week, Schumacher’s management team told Formula 1 that the former champion was “still in a waking up process.” His medical team began reducing sedation in late January, according to the release.
