KIEV, August 19 (RAPSI) - Ukraine considers blocking access to Russian websites which are deemed to be propagandistic amid the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, Anton Herashchenko, an aide to the Ukrainian interior minister, said at a news conference Tuesday.

“We are discussing legal and technical implications of blocking some websites, as Israel, the US and China do. Those websites that promote illegal activity. The decision must be made by a court,” Herashchenko said.

“The goal is to prevent people from finding websites that recruit terrorists,” he said.

Ukraine also considers banning social media pages and websites which are administered by those those advocating for a break-up of Ukraine.

In the meantime, a lawsuit is pending in a Kiev court seeking to ban four Russian television channels in Ukraine - the First National Channel, RTR-Planeta, Rossiya 24 and NTV World. The list may be expanded upon the decision of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine.
