MOSCOW, March 25 (RAPSI) - The online social networking service Twitter has deleted 55 messages of Russian users for violation of law, RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday, citing Vadim Ampelonsky, spokesman for communications regulator Roskomnadzor.

Twitter has adopted a selective position,  Ampelonsky said. The service deletes information concerned with international terrorism but ignores requests for blocking calls for mass events (riots).

Earlier, the regulator requested access to information on traffic at the accounts of 108 bloggers and that extremist entries be deleted.

Under the Russian law, access to this information must be blocked immediately.

But Twitter is taking too long to provide the requested information and to delete the prohibited content, Roskomnadzor head Alexander Zharov said.
However, the representatives of Roskomnadzor say that Twitter fulfils the requirements of the US authorities without delay. This year alone, it provided information about 2,500 users at the government’s request.
