MOSCOW, January 15 (RAPSI) – Russian bailiffs will begin from Friday to limit driving privileges of citizens who have accumulated debts exceeding 10,000 rubles ($131), RIA Novosti reported.

Debtors will be able to drive their cars again only when they pay their debts off.

According to bailiffs, restrictions will be introduced after an official notice is given to a debtor. If an individual fails to pay the debt in five days he will be put on the wanted list and then restricted from driving.

A wide range of debtors would face driving restriction including alimony dodgers, individuals who fail to pay fines and compensation for damage caused.

The restriction will not apply to people who have to pay less than 10,000 rubles of debt, individuals for whom driving is a single source of subsistence and disabled persons of groups I and II.

According to preliminary estimates of the Federal Bailiff Service, restriction will touch about 300,000 Russian drivers.
